Painterly Rendering

Painterly rendered image with varied sizes of Impressionist style brush strokes.  A project inspired by a paper Painterly Rendering with Curved Brush Strokes of Multiple Sizes.

Color reconstruction and BRDFs

This project requires thorough understanding of color, multispectral sampling, physically-based lighting, and BRDF calculation. I built upon a simple non-recursive ray caster. The sunlight and LED light data was used to calculate BRDF, Beckman, and GGX distributions. It computes and returns an RGB value based on the view vector, light vector, surface normal, and sphere number.

Spider Gait Based on Leg Loss

A procedural gait generator by ways of using Maya expression editor shows the movement of a spider as it loses each leg. The spider model is auto rigged by use of Python. The icon of a spider at the top of the screen controls which leg is lost, which affects its movement accordingly.

Tiger Gait Transition

(Amble and Rotary-Gallop)

A procedural gait generator that shows the transition between the amble and rotary-gallop of a tiger with use of Maya expression editor. The slider on top controls the speed of the tiger, which affects the gait type accordingly.

Shelves Procedural Modeling

A procedural shelves model that the user can control the number of the shelves, leg choice, height from the ground, length of the shelves, and the existence of a backboard.

Method to Create Positive-Genus
Space-Filling Tiles

A methodology by using Voronoi decomposition and symmetric properties of a cube to create positive-genus space-filling models which can construct larger models by assembly, allowing better inter-locking behavior.
